Arleen was not only our mother, aunt, and great aunt, but also Pink It Forward's biggest cheerleader. At any given time, you could guarantee she was wearing something with Pink It Forward on it, beaming with pride over the work we've been able to do and the difference we're making in the lives of those battling breast cancer.

Battling breast cancer not once, not twice, not 3 times, but 4 times, Arleen was the true definition of a warrior. She battled the relentless disease vigorously, with the grace of the angel she now is. Regardless of cancer's attempts to bring her down, she was always there to lift up her children and grandchildren. A basketball game, a dance recital, a Pink It Forward event, she never missed a beat. We're so proud to honor her memory and further that love and support by providing a bit of financial assistance to children that have experienced some of the same impacts.

Each year we issue at minimum 5 Arleen Scholarships.

  • 2 x $1,000 - North Dakota High School graduates heading into their first year of college (trade school, 2 year program, or 4 year program)

  • 3 x $500 - One High School graduate from Minnesota, South Dakota, and Montana

Applications must be received by July 15th of each year, and will be issued on August 10th of each year. Eligible students must have a parent or grandparent that's been diagnosed with breast cancer, whether currently battling, a survivor, or someone who has passed. Each will be scored by a committee of established business men and women from across the state of North Dakota, and chosen based on a combination of need, accomplishments, and essay responses. Checks will be made out to the schools in their name.

If you know of a student that could benefit from an Arleen Scholarship, please help us spread the word. We're so grateful for the support you've all shown us, and we can't wait to continue helping ALL those impacted by breast cancer. Here's to paying it forward. Here's to Pink It Forward. Here's to Arleen.
